Coming out 1

This conversation took place in 1974 in the small rural AB town called Hanna.
 

Colin: Listen man. I wanna tell you something important.

Male friend: Okay.

Colin: It's about me. Who I am.

Male friend: Okay.

Colin: Don't freak out, man.

Male friend: Okay.

Colin: Well I uh. I'm gay.

Male friend: How do you know?

Colin: I dunno. I just know I like guys. How do you know you like girls?

Male friend: Yeah, but do you have any idea what sort of life you're in for. Sad and lonely, man.

Colin: I'll take my chances. Besides I didn't choose this life. It chose me.

Male friend: You're still my friend. This doesn't change anything.
